Finished the Sahuarita AZ project
Hi. We moved to Coolidge AZ yesterday--just an hour and half north of Sahuarita. We are visiting Carole's cousin for the month of March. Good thing we are not going to a project since I have a head cold--been sleeping alot today. I will post some pictures and comments in the next few days when I feel better. I love the posting of the 50-day spiritual adventure. It is so good to keep connected to our home church. Bye nlsower

greetings
Hi. It is a beautiful day. I am watching the finches, cardinals and road runners as I wait for my computer--cell phone connection is really slow, but it works.
C is washing clothes while I do some computer work. When she is done we will bake a raisin cake (her mother's recipe). Can't believe how fast the time flies.
We went to a slide show on ATV tours this morning. Fun to see the pictures--don't think we have the time to take a tour. Bible study at the park tomorrow. Coffee and donuts before we leave on Friday.
We try to walk around the park each day. Bye nlsower

This is what greeted us in AZ--A neighbor camper came to visit within an hour of setting up camp. He is from IL and is doing some work at the RV park. The next morning a roadrunner stopped by to peek in our back window.

Project summaries
We are in Benson AZ until Feb 6th, then we can go to our project in Sahuarita, AZ. It is rather cool today--only in the 50's--last night was in the upper 30's. Cool but much warmer than MN.
Many of you have asked, “what do you do on the projects?” So I thought I would give you a copy of the work summaries that the other SOWERs have written about the Sahuarita Christian Academy in Sahuarita, AZ (this is our February 2009 project).
The first summary is from February 2008 (eight couples). The men built student cubicles; removed and replaced the gutters on the school. They finished the inside of the new storage shed with electricity, shelves and plumbing for a future washing machine; built a wood storage lean-to; cleaned out storage container and moved items to new storage shed. They removed the old fence poles and replaced with new poles and fencing across the back of the school property; painted sheds, cubicles and fencing; set up clothesline poles for the SOWERS; spread gravel; and did other miscellaneous repair jobs in and around the school. Women spent their days working for the school--tutoring students, correcting papers, answering questions, copying lessons, scanning pages, and being an encouragement.
The second summary is from November 2008 (three couples). The men tore down a shed, insulated some water pipes, put a barrier around a water hydrant, and cleaned and serviced all the heating and air conditioning units. They installed a telephone line, put up a fence around the school, put pipes in the ground for a hoops game, and replaced a broken window. They moved all the cement parking curbs, and moved stones for RV sites. They made and painted new lettering for the school’s address. The ladies worked in the school helping teachers--correcting papers, correlating lessons, data entry and prepared a huge mailing.
The third summary is from December 2008 (six couples). The men put up a 42 x 48 canopy over the playground area. They made horses for tables to be used at a Community Outreach Fair, made 4 clothes racks, and made a gate for the driveway. They fenced in the play area to make it more secure, and painted pipes in the play area yellow. They constructed a lean-to to the outside of one of the sheds for an outside work area. The ladies worked in the school helping teachers with grading and playground monitoring.
I hope these summaries will give you a better idea of the wide range of tasks that may be done on a project. In February there will be six couples. We don't know what we will be doing.

86 degrees today
Hi everyone. Didn't make it to NM today--we spent too much time in WalMart in Midland TX. Got some drugs for C. She is doing much better now.
It was 86 degrees today as we crossed western TX on Interstate 20. Couldn't believe the speed limit was 80 mph for cars. Still saw the state patrol have a car stopped. As we came out of the lowlands the temp started dropping--down to 74 by the time we went over the pass. Even got a few drops of rain as we got to the campground.
We are in Mt. View RV park in Van Horn TX. There are over 100 sites all pull thru. I guess land is cheap here so space is no problem. We had lots of choices since there about 10 rigs here. We have wireless and cable tv. All for just $12.50. nlsower

finally on the road
We left Minnesota on Jan 19 and are now in Big Spring, TX for the night. Nice weather in the 70's. C still has her cold so we are taking our time getting going today. Hope to get to NM tonight. nlsower

Sower projects
Hi. Our January 2009 SOWER project was cancelled so we will be heading to AZ after the middle of January. We will work a February project then take March off and then work an April project. Then back home about the first of May. More later--must get to bed. nlsower
