Good traveling

We (both Rigs) had good roads and weather across TX, NM and AZ. Staying Sunday night and Monday night at Coolidge, AZ. Visiting with C's cousin and of course going out to eat plus a little sightseeing. Temp was about 70 when we got to Coolidge today. That was quite a change from 30 when we left Van Horn TX in the morning. We are to be at Jamul CA by Friday. I think it's about 400 miles from Coolidge. We will look for some interesting spots to stop along the way so we don't get to CA too soon. Going out for breakfast tomorrow morning to meet some other SOWERS from Washington. They are just passing through Coolidge too on their way to their next project.

Thanks for the comments, nlsower

100 miles to go!!!!!!!

Hi, 100 miles to go sounds like a good song title. Don't have time to write songs or the talent. We saw 54 deg. yesterday but cloudy and rainy. We should make it to Star Ranch by noon today. I will post pictures as soon as I find some batteries for the camera. I bought some along the way but they were dead--past use date. I didn't buy anymore since I have several rechargable ones in the camper.

Should be in the 5o's today and even some sunshine. It will take us all afternoon just to sort out everything that was just thrown into the camper. We are looking forward to getting settled in one spot. C is looking forward to getting out her quilting. She has been doing a hand pieced one as we have been traveling.

Chaulked up more miles

Good roads today through Nashville, Memphis and Little Rock. Looks like about another 600 miles to Star Ranch west of San Antonio. Prediction is for wintery mix Sat. afternoon, so we will head south before we get to Dallas. Truck is running fine, hills in KY didn't cause any real problems. We set the cruise on 60 mph and roll along. I don't think we will make it to Star Ranch tomorrow but early Sunday.

One little side line; the temporary license plate from OH is cardboard. At least the VIN plate is metal and permanently attached. nlsower

Finally heading south

WOW! It feels great to be on the road. Today was a cloudy day but the roads were dry.

We went through Columbus, Cincinnati and Louisville. Will head down I65 toward Nashville tomorrow. Sounds like more rain along the Gulf but no snow or ice until west of San Antonio.

Plan to get an early start tomorrow. nlsower

The VIN Plate is on the camper!!!!!!!!!!!!

Praise the Lord we have the VIN Plate on the camper, title application sent into the state of OH and our stuff in the camper. Tomorrow we will stop at a vehicle license office to get a 30-day sticker from OH which will be good until we get a MN license plate. Then it is on the road. It seems like this has taken forever.

I said our stuff is in the camper, but it is not put away so it will stay in place as we go down the road. I'll do that early tomorrow morning. The camper is parked near the motel- hooked unto the truck-so I'll do the rearranging before we check out of the motel.

Thanks for all of your prayers.

I talked to R & V today. They have about an inch of ice everywhere--no problem with their electrical or water. I am listening to the weather now and sounds like there was more ice today in TX.

We will be listening to the weather as we head for TX. Hope we can miss the ice. If we hit ice, we will park until it melts. nlsower

How cold can it get?

Hi. B & C left NL Sunday morning. It had warmed t0 10 degrees above. As we headed through WI it warmed to 32 and by the time we got to IN, it was raining and sleeting. Since Monday is another holiday--aren't there any 5-day work weeks any more--we stayed in IN Sunday and Monday nights. We will head for OH Tuesday morning as soon as the snow and ice are cleared from the tollway. I don't like much ice when pulling a U-haul trailer. Oh, yes the U-haul. That is so we don't have to go back through MN once we get our camper. We will head straight south from OH. I'm glad we are not going through MO and OK with all the ice storm damage they have had. We are enjoying a break today--my knee and leg were really giving me pain yesterday while driving 600 miles. It is doing much better today. I stop and walk around every hour. I got water on the knee from banging it on my equipment a couple of times this summer.

The Camper--we haven't heard a word yet, but hope to hear something tomorrow.

I talked to R & V Sunday. They are working hard. They haven't been able to get consistent internet connection, so they have no blog postings yet. They are checking out wireless connection. Look forward to more news from they. We are going to their project (Star Ranch) as soon as we get our camper. Our project has another group of volunteers there so they don't really need us. Star Ranch could use our help so we are going there. We hope to work the last week of the project with R & V. It doesn't bother my walking, but sure does when I'm driving.

The business in OH that I am working with didn't like it that I had called the State of OH to check on the status of the VIN plate, so they may not be cooperative in getting the plate affixed to our camper. Pray they get over their petty problem.

We look forward to your comments. nlsower

The VIN Plate is in the mail!!!!!!!!!!!

We have received word that the VIN plate is on its way to the inspector. It should arrive on Friday. That means it should be affixed on Tuesday (Monday is another holiday).

We are leaving for OH on Sunday morning. We are taking a U-haul so we can head south from OH rather than return to MN. Hope the weather cooperates--the cold should be ok but ice and snow would create problems. We should be on the road heading south by Wednesday.

We don't know if we will go to the Hitchcock project for a few days or if we will join R & V at the Star Ranch project for the last week of the project.

This waiting sure has been hard. I like to be doing something not just sitting. I even had questions of are we doing what God wants us to do. But I was reading about Paul's missionary journeys and learned that things did not always go smoothly for him. I know he was following God, so I decided to lighten up and just to trust God.

Thanks for the prayers. nlsower

Still no new VIN plate

We waited until after the mail got to the inspector's office on Friday but no VIN plate. That meant the earliest arrival would be Monday with installation on Tuesday.

We decided that instead of waiting in OH, we would leave the camper in OH and go back to MN. We got back to MN Saturday evening. We will shut down our house and then rent a U-haul to take the camper supplies to OH so we can leave directly from OH. We were afraid that snow may start coming, so it would be easier to head south from OH.

There is only one lady in OH that makes the VIN plates and we don't know if she skipped the country or what. We hope she is working on ours.

Our present plans are to pack, shut down the house and leave for OH on Sunday morning January 14. If the plate arrives and is installed this week, we will be able to head south Tuesday Jan 16. We will be checking with OH this week for updates. God's peace. nlsower

How are we doing????????/

Hi,

R & V are on their project. Travels went fine, had fun visiting along the way. Looks like lots of work at the project. Could use lots of help. Pray for strength to get things done. The camp's internet is down for the time being; it should be back up and running by the first of the week. R & V will then be able to post a new message.

B & C are sitting in OH waiting for the VIN plate for their camper. The inspector who needs to affix the plate said the plate should have been in by now but no plate has arrived at his office. We can't do anything until the plate arrives and then affixed to the camper. We will check again on Friday if the VIN plate arrives at the inspectors office. If the plate comes in late Friday, it would be Monday before it could be affixed. Then it is back to NL to pack. We were to be on our project tomorrow, but we are still here................

We are checking out the local area. Find this is a USSteel mill area. Nice area; some older homes and some new neighborhoods. Went to a new shopping center today; fun to check it out. There is a nice park near by, so we went for a long walk today. Also found a great restaurant, good home cooking.

We are able to stay in the camper; get electricity from the business where we got the camper.

Pray the plate comes and the weather cooperates for our travels back home and then to TX. This waiting is the pits. nlsower
