Hidalgo is well kept. Neat lawns around schools and public buildings.
Hidalgo is known as the location where the killer bees entered the US in 1990. I don't think they were this large.
Hidalgo is known for their Christmas lights--this year they added about 30,000 new lights. The picture below is one of the displays by the city hall. All of the parks and many other locations have light displays. We found out about the display late New Years Eve but the displays are lighted through Dec 31st and we were several miles away. From what I have seen, it would be worth a trip Hidalgo in Dec just to see the lights.
Hidalgo's pump house was the source of water for irrigation for the valley until 1983. I think that is the right year.
Of course SOWERs never miss an opportunity to have fellowship. Sowers from Pharr project, Harligen project and Hidalgo project out to eat. A few RVIGs joined us.
Next week's forcast is for warmer weather in 70's but several shower. Hope we can finish the metal roofs and some siding. The offices are getting painted too.

Howdy Folks- Good to hear from you all! That's Bibical you know - at the end ot Titus Paul says "You All". We had a low below minus 21 last night - Our out door thermometer takes time out after minus 21 - it just says "off", so I went on the Computer and it said minus 23 for Belgrade and that was 8:30 am so it could have been colder. right now it 7:50 pm it is a minus 18 - but there is no wind so it not so bad. Tomorrow we have the congretational meeting and a benefit dinner for the youth. We might have sold 2 head of cattle and the guy will pick them up on Thursday - so we will see. otherwise we go day by day and try to stay warm - Tuesday we went to St. Cloud and we stopped at Jody's before we left town and then we went to Cashwise and she called us there and said we left an oil spot on her driveway, so Poor Boy went out and checked a sure enough the Blazer was leaking oil, it was 2.5 qts low. We took it to Belgrade and an oil line had corrided off. Good thing Jody noticed it or we could have ruined the motor. Don't feel too sorry for us!!! Good to get a letter, that was great.
