I ran out of time yesterday before I could get these three pictures posted.

BC by the door where he replaced the regular hinges with spring loaded hinges. Hope they will be strong enough to close the door.

Part of the Substation kitchen that was sheet rocked--we had to leave the ceiling open for the vent installation people and the wall in the right corner open for the plumbing. The stainless steel unit in the foreground is the range hood. It will be mounted in the far corner. All of the stainless wall covering, vent hood, vent pipes, fire suppression system and vent fans have to be installed by a licensed contractor--about $3500. I would love to see the kitchen when it is completed--we may have to work this project again some other year.

Beautiful morning

Hi everyone. A beautiful sunny morning. C is out for a walk. The trees are budding and the birds are singing.

These are some pictures from our February project at YWAM by Lindale, TX.

Removing a wall in one of the staff houses--one side was sheetrock and the other side was corrugated sheet metal. Also removed crown molding in another room.

rainy sunday afternoon

Hi. Thanks Pastor Paul and others for posting the church info. It is a warm feeling to follow what is happening back at the home church. We have good wireless connection at this project.

We are at International Bible Center in San Antonio, TX. This is a church of about 200 and a Bible College. They are starting a program in English as a Second Language--this will help foreign students get a visa. The enrollment is down to about 30 students now--they hope to get the new program going soon to help the enrollment.

We start work tomorrow morning--we are not sure what we will be doing but they have a list of about 100 small tasks--including plumbing, electrical, painting, hanging mirrors, etc. This should be fun. There is one other couple working with us. We worked with them New Tribes Aviation in McNeal AZ a few years ago. He is an electrician. There isn't much work for the ladies so they may get some walking done.

We enjoy visiting different churches around each project. Today, we did not attend the church at the project because many people were gone on a retreat. We attended Rainbow Hills Baptist Church, the service was very enjoyable--multi-ethnic and multi-generational.

Both B and C caught colds--got some medicine so we are on the mend--maybe the 70 degree weather later this week will help.

Headed for March Project

Hi. We are on the road to International Bible College in San Antonio. We have had two days in a row of sun shine :) in the 70's.

We will learn about our work at the project today when we meet with the host. Bye nlsower

Where oh where is Spring?

Hi everyone. B and L made it home safely today--they had some rather poor driving conditions.

Winter is hanging on in TX--high today was 43 which is 24 degrees below normal. Also snowed most of the day--at least it didn't stick on the ground. We survived.

Only two more day to work--guess the next group will have to finish the job.

second week at YWAM

The past week has been rather routine. Ladies working in the kitchen and the men continuing with their remodeling projects. The weather was cool and windy the beginning of the week. By the end of the week warmed up to the mid 60's.

B and L headed home on Friday noon. They made it to Kansas by Saturday night but had to stay a second night because of a ice storm. Hope they can get on the road on Monday.

The weather is predicted to be below normal and even more snow on Tuesday. The locals say they usually don't see this much snow. It is about 15 degrees below normal--guess it is all that global warming.

I have been feeding the birds--lots of cardinals in this country.

Tonight we attended family night at this YWAM base--it was graduation and sharing of the groups mission outreach. Some were in the US and some around the world. Fun to hear their reports. nlsower

pictures from first week at YWAM

BC and BD are removing the windows like this on three sides of this building. The room will be a new kitchen for the Substation (the restaurant on the base). This is the west wall.

This is the new window on the north wall. It is only temporary for the night--needs the OSB.

This is the new window and OSB on the south wall. The walls will be sided with cement board panels. We were able to complete the siding on the north and south walls by Thursday even if it did rain two days last week. The north wall is under a roof so we could work when it was raining and snowing. We didn't take out the west window yet because once it is out, we will need to move the large kitchen appliances in through the opening. We will need to use the tractor with the loader to move the stove--lots of cast iron.

This is CC's work buddys in the kitchen. They are preparing the noon meal. The base serves about 200 per meal. It depends on how many students are on campus or if they are out on a mission trip.

These pictures are the result of our 6 to 10 inch snow fall last Thursday night. Even if we didn't come to TX to see snow, it was beautiful. Most of it is melted by today (Sunday)
