Hi from Grants Pass

R and V have been busy at son's place (M & V). Dismantling a shed and rebuilding another. Hard work, they come "home" all tired out. C has been busy catching up on letters, cards and cooking for the four of us. I have been working on my taxes and a little project for the school each day. Monday--replace a water heater; Tuesday--fix a brush chipper, Wed--fix a washout on the trail to the school; Thursday--remove a wall on a well pump house so the tank can be removed and the floor cemented ( the gophers push dirt into the house from under the tank and cover up all the valves etc).

We don't have sewer connection at this project, so we have to pump the black water about 150 feet across the street to a sewer outlet by one of the trailer houses. I'll tell the rest of the story when we get home. We just let the gray water run out into the woods.

We don't have TV reception so C is reading Time magazine.

I need to take some pictures so I have some to post. Bye, nlsower

A few more pictures

Pic 1 The view from the rear window of B and C's camper. The temp may have been 85 but the water was cold--no we didn't try the pool.

Pic 2 One of several flowering trees at the YWAM base.

Pic 3 Sample of the student housing.

Pic 4 B's project on the final day. Made good progress but didn't get done.

Pic 5 Mt Shasta on the route to OR.

Note about YWAM. Saturday about 26 individuals left for Fuji for a mission outreach. Also about 22 individuals left for Guatemala for a mission outreach. Some were from MN. Fun to see all these people finish their training and then go on an outreach. Felt good to be part of this ministry. nlsower

We are out of the Valley

Hi. I'm finally back. We left Chico, CA Saturday and are now in Grants Pass, OR. We have cell reception so I am sitting in the camper composing this. Praise the LORD!!!!!! I didn't realize how much I depended on good cell reception. We can even receive call in the camper...

Thanks for the comments. AC, are the stitches gone yet? Hope your battle scar isn't too big. P, we got the license plate. When it arrived, it was open on the top and a big torn hole in the end, but as C said, "By God's grace it arrived." I put it on the same day.

We are now at a Christian elementary school. We are parked under several pine trees. We sleep to the wind whispering in the trees. I like this sound better than listening to the Peacock squawking all night.

Don't know what we will be doing at this project.

Thanks Big RC for the phone call. We are looking forward to seeing your pictures.

My phone battery will be going dead soon, so will post pictures after I charge it up. Love to all, nlsower.

couple of YWAM base pictures

The first picture is of the house B is remodeling when we arrived at the project. The second picture is at the end of the first week. Right across the driveway is a mountain stream so we can listen to the water flowing over the rocks--tough working conditions. nlsower

Half done with YWAM at Chico. CA project

Hi everybody. We are doing well--the old bodies ache but we keep on moving. V is in housekeeping, C is in Laundry, B is remodeling a house and R is remodeling a bathroom. Lots of hard work. There 8 SOWER couples at this project. Lots of good fellowship. Three are from CA, one from OR and one from ID. Five of the couples travel with a dog. Lots of pet stories.

We are in a valley again so no cell reception. The road out of camp is very rough. Fifteen mph is top speed, so it takes me a while to drive the four miles out to get cell reception.

Some of the staff and students are from MN--fun to make those connections. One couple is from Glenwood--he had the plumbing business. I remember his trucks in Belgrade.

Will close and post a couple of pictures on another blog. Glad to hear the snow is melting!!!!!!! nlsower

Chico and SF

1. V and C viewing Sunset Blvd. in LA
2.The beautiful Golden Gate Bridge - awesome
3. V and Mary from Canada painted 144 bunks at Jumal. I lifted the wet bunks and put them back, hence my clothes got a little dirty. I threw them away after that job.
4 & 5. R and B decided to let their hair grow...and relax between jobs.
We really are having a great time.
